Introduction to Centralised Reference Data

In a distributed architecture, the Centralised Reference Data (RD) module can be deployed as a part of the Temenos Reference Data shared service. In such cases, the SWIFTRef Bank Directory Plus files are uploaded by the bank on the Temenos Reference Data platform which is referred by various systems.

Temenos Infrastructure (TI) based business systems which is a part of the bank architecture (for example, Standalone Temenos Payment Hub (TPH)), use the International Banking Account Number (IBAN) related public methods available under the System Table (ST) module to access the IBAN data from the Temenos Reference Data platform.

The diagram below depicts the interaction of the Temenos Payment Initiation system with Temenos Reference Data TBC to validate Bank Identifier Code (BIC).

When the user captures the beneficiary IBAN, the PAYMENT.ORDER application installed on the TPH platform invokes the RD.VALIDATE.BIC public method.

The RD.VALIDATE.BIC method invokes the Master Data Account Layer (MDAL) method (MDLREF.ReferenceDataImpl.validateBIC).

Based on the configuration in MDAL and generic config microservice, the MDAL method calls the (/reference/bankCodes/bics/{bicId}/validity) REST API exposed by the Temenos Reference Data platform.

Read Centralised Reference Data for more information on RD specific functionality.
