Introduction to Upm-Db Tool

The Upm-Db tool is a Java based tool, which can run in on-prem and containerized (SaaS) environments.

The Upm-Db tool is designed to,

  • Identify the bottleneck of DB infrastructure.
  • Simple tool to stress test DB and report results without the interference of Temenos Transact.
  • Assess the hardware resource requirements for a particular account volume, specific transaction mix, and expected throughput.
  • Check the performance of the hardware.
  • Prelude for benchmarking.

The Upm-Db tool simulates the Close of Business (COB) capitalisation transactions between the application and database server. The configuration of the business scenario is through the XML file and the process parameter configuration is through the properties file. This tool stress tests the database and records the performance of the database in terms of throughput.

The Upm tools are Temenos Transact independent, that is, they do not require the Temenos Transact platform. These tools simulate the business scenarios of Temenos Transact with configurable process parameters, business data, and services.

The Upm tools can:

  • Execute multiple instances in a synchronised way.
  • Spawn the agents and stop them from spawning according to throughput.

The reports generated by the tools:

  • Depict baseline metrics vs test result comparison.
  • Depict linear scalability.
The database should be up and running before launching the tool.

The Upm-Db tool is tested on the following platforms:

  • HP-UX 11.31 on ia64 BL860c Itanium 2 9000 series on with Oracle 11.1.0.7
  • AIX 6.1 on PowerPC_POWER6 P570 with Oracle 11.1.0.7
  • Linux
  • Windows
  • HP-UX 11.31 on ia64 rx7640 Itanium 2 9100 series
