Stack 8 Transact on AWS Runbook

This runbook covers how to deploy a Transact environment on an AWS EKS cluster. Currently, the Transact setup involves both automated and manual steps, with a mix of automation scripts and manual setup. This runbook is relevant to all post R23 AMR releases up to and including R24 AMR.

The container service combination tested in this runbook is AWS EKS > EC2 and EKS > Fargate, where Orchestration tool is EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service) and Hosting type is EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) or Fargate.

This runbook does not tell you how to install third-party software. For more information, see the relevant vendor's documentation.

Scope

This runbook is structured into the following main topics:

  1. Setting up database from backup
  2. Preparing Preimage kit
  3. Deploying Transact
    1. EKS > EC2
    2. EKS > Fargate
You can follow either 3a or 3b based on your preference. The recommended R24 architecture is EKS > Fargate.
