Introduction to Customer Infrastructure

There are two types of national identification documents that are issued by the Department for Registration of Persons - National Identity Card (NIC) and Electronic Identification Card (EIC). The ID is validated using an algorithm during the customer creation.

It is important to obtain the valid identification number, to ensure that the bank is identifying the customer in order to comply with the rules stipulated by the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of Sri Lanka and to avoid the rejection of credit facilities that are reported to the Credit Information Bureau (CRIB).

A new version of the CMBASE.GEN.PARAM application is created for the users to configure the legal document type required for customer creation: CMBASE.GEN.PARAM, LKBASE.INPUT.

The existing Mandatory Flag field is modified to have an additional value as Conditional. This value indicates that the legal document may be an optional requirement when on-boarding customers.
