Introduction to Teller

This module covers specific requirements for cash transactions. For Anti-Money Laundering (AML) purposes, Id details are captured for any large cash deposit done by a non-customer. Damaged and suspect notes are tracked so they can later be reported to the regulators.

Depositor Information Capture

This functionality allows users to capture the customer Id of a customer who is depositing or withdrawing money in another customer account. The customer Id is captured during the transaction.

Teller Report

Banks have to send a report to their central bank with the list of all cash-related transactions performed by the teller operation in the bank for a specified period, which consists of all incoming and outgoing cash transactions, with the split of suitable and non-suitable currencies at denomination level.

Non-Customer Cash Transactions

This functionality enables the non-customers to deposit cash in the bank’s customer account and also withdraw cash by encashing the customer’s cheque. Also, this functionality allows banks to capture the non-customer information for all cash transactions and a report will be generated to display the date-wise transactions performed by the non-customers. To adhere to the regulations, the non-customer details are stored in the system. The required details  for cash deposit and withdrawal are given below.

Non-Customer Information Required for Cash Deposit Required for Cash Withdrawal (Bearer Cheques) Required for Cash Withdrawal (Non-Bearer Cheques)
Name Yes Yes Yes
Surname1 Yes Yes Yes
Surname2 Yes Yes Yes
Non-customer legal Id Required only if the deposits exceeds the threshold defined in the local currency. Required only if the cash withdrawal exceeds the threshold defined in the local currency. Yes
Legal document name Required only if the deposits exceeds the threshold defined in the local currency. Required only if the cash withdrawal exceeds the threshold defined in the local currency. Yes

Non-customers can perform cash transactions like cash deposits and cash withdrawals (through bearer cheque) to or from the bank customer’s accounts at the bank’s branches. During the withdrawal using the bearer cheque, if the amount exceeds the threshold, then the non-customer's legal Id will be verified and if the amount is within the threshold, then the legal Id is non-mandatory.

The withdrawal and deposit are done through versions created specifically for transactions done by the non-customers.

The ESTELL.PARAMETER parameter application holds the non-customer cash threshold, which would be checked in case of deposits.

The non-customer transactions are stored in a file and the details of the non-customer and the transactions are displayed through an enquiry.

The following fields have been created as part of this functionality:

  • The Noncust Withdrawal Threshold field has been added to the ESTELL.PARAMETER application to store the threshold that will be defined for the cash withdrawal.
  • The Payee Name field has been added to the TELLER,LCY.CASHCHQ.ACCT.NON.CUSTOMER, TELLER,FCY.CASHCHQ.FCY.ACCT.NON.CUSTOMER, and TELLER,LCY.CASHCHQ.FCY.ACCT.NON.CUSTOMER versions to identify a bearer cheque for cash withdrawals by non-customer.

Third Party Cash Deposits

Cash transactions including deposits in local currency (LCY) and foreign currency (FCY), issuance of a pay order beyond a specified threshold, if performed by a third party, require validation of specific information including the availability of legal Id, the purpose of the deposit and validating other personal information like name, address, etc of the depositor.

A new field is added in the ESTELL.PARAMETER application. This field indicates if the threshold configured in the Noncust Cash Threshold field will be a transaction limit or day limit. Accordingly, whenever a transaction is performed, then the limit is validated either to allow or restrict the transaction.

A new COS screen for cash transactions and third party creation is created with the below-mentioned options:

  • Customer Cash Transactions.
  • Third Party Transactions.
  • Creation of Third Party.

The enquiry for the third party transactions is created based on the NON.CUSTOMER.TRANSACTIONS application, to list out all the third-party cash transactions for a specific period based on the legal Id or the amount.
