Introduction to Telephone Banking - Telpay

For a better understanding of IVR (Interactive Voice Response) Telephone Banking, the user has to be familiar with the navigation around Temenos Transact accounting concept, FT(Funds Transfer) modules and enquiry reports.

It is the Caisse and CWB (Canadian Western Bank) intention to have an interface built by Temenos so, in this way to continue with TelPay’s phone banking. This interface is built with the intent of having multi-companies. The Caisse telephone banker carries the name of La Télé-Caisse. For CWB the telephone solution is referred to as “In-Touch Telephone Banking” (ITTB). The current number of customers utilizing the ITTB service is low but it has been decided to continue to offer this service after the conversion to Temenos Transact. TelPay performs the functions like fund transfers, statement enquiries, bill payments, account inquiries, stop payments, PIN changes and other (non-interactive Caisse information) done by phone thru TelPay’s application.

The real-time interface between the TelPay phone banker and the banking system is handled over a socket (tcp) connection. Based on client-server model, the Telpay phone banker initiates a connection to the banking system and sends requests to the banking system. The phone banker uses the VanCity X9.2 messaging standard to communicate with the banking system. The banking system performs the action which is initiated from TelPay Phone Banker and then Formatted X9.2 response message returned from banking system to TelPay Phone Banker.
